Book Review • Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents
Hi everyone! I'm back today with another book review. This month, I've been making my way through the work chapter of Authenblissity Reset and I decided to focus on inner work (rather than paid work or creative work).
I've been learning a lot about myself and a big part of my inner work right now involves making my way through a lot of stuff that's come up around my relationship with my father. This has been slowly building for years but I discovered this series of books on Emotionally Immature People (EIP) when I was going through my relationships chapter a couple of months ago.
It took a while for my hold to come up at the library but I finally read the first book in the series. It was so enlightening and validating that I bought a copy. I highly recommend this book, regardless of whether you think you have emotionally immature parents. I think it's very helpful for navigating relationships in general (e.g., being true to yourself and setting boundaries) and it can also help increase the reader's own emotional maturity.
If you've read any of the books in this series, I'd love to hear your thoughts. The first two are my favourite but I've also read/flipped through the last two.

Resetting my relationship with work
Переглядів 13321 день тому
It's time for the next chapter in my authenblissity reset: work! In this chapter, we're going to consider a broad definition of work. Where do you invest your time and energy? While all of these exercises were designed with paid work in mind, they can also apply to work is is unpaid: schoolwork, housework, volunteer work, social justice work, creative work, inner work, caring for children or el...
What I learned during my play reset • Authenblissity Reset in a bullet journal

This chapter was so enjoyable! It really helped that I let go of the pressure I was feeling to have fun when I started this chapter. Once I let that go, I stopped judging the things I like to do in the realm of play, and I naturally gravitated towards the things that bring me joy. Since this book provides a framework for tuning in to your inner compass, what you learn about yourself could be ve...
I'm changing the way I do puzzles
Переглядів 145Місяць тому
Hi everyone! I'm working through my play chapter this month so it seemed like synchronicity that I've rediscovered my love for puzzles. I started thinking about why I say I love puzzles so much but I've hardly done any in my adult life. I had some big realizations - the main one being that I had some massive puzzles on my bucket list that created a bottleneck. I felt like I "should" do those pu...

It's time for the next chapter in my authenblissity reset: play! In this chapter, we're going to take a more expansive definition of play, allowing it to encompass all forms of leisure activities. Play can be fun and exhilarating, but it can also be low key and relaxing. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? What's fun for you? How does play show up in your life? I've done this play reset ...

Sleep is a mysterious topic. Overall, I think I have a pretty good relationship with sleep, so at first, this chapter didn't provide me with any fresh insights. But as I was finishing up the last exercise, an aha moment finally arrived. Because of that, I went from being rather disappointed in this chapter to loving this chapter. Since this book provides a framework for tuning in to your inner ...
How I'm using sleep as productive time
Переглядів 1112 місяці тому
When I was doing my sleep reset this month, I started thinking about how neat it was that we get a chance to have a mini reset every night when we go to sleep. I also started thinking about the huge swath of 7-8 hours when I'm asleep overnight and how I really have no (conscious) idea of what's going on. I was curious about how I could be more intentional about this time and how I could try to ...

It's time for the next chapter in my authenblissity reset: sleep. In this chapter, it's especially important to separate the things we can control from the things we can't control. For example, we can control what time we go to bed, but we can't control what time we fall asleep. As we complete the exercises, we'll try to follow our curiosity to decide what experiments to try, knowing that the o...

Hi everyone! I'm back today with my very first book review - Tuesdays with Morrie. This book was published in 1997. It's a very popular book but it wasn't on my radar until my friend recommended it to me. I recorded this video a few months ago but didn't get a chance to post it. It's time for the next chapter in my authenblissity reset: relationships. This is a tough one for me but I'm eager to dive in. Great review! I’ve been curious about this book for a long time. This may seem like an odd channel recommendation, but your idea of the true self as the inner compass reminded me of Shelise from Cults to Consciousness here on UA-cam, who always talks about finding and/or regaining individual sovereignty and listening to our inner voice/inner knowing. I think you might really resonate with some of her interviews! Thanks for this video!

I'm still making my way through the 2nd book I read (I'm taking a break to read some fiction as it's been a while), but I'm looking forward to picking it back up again. When I choose the daily repetition of the task, why does it automatically duplicate the task on the second day? For example, I have a math project in the form of a task on this day. I run a pomodoro on this task on this day. The next day, I do the same process, which is running a pomodoro like the day before, and the bad thing that happens is that the application calculates the pomodoro on the duplicate task and not the task that I did yesterday, so storing the pomodoro is on more than one task that was automatically copied and not the main task. I want the topic to be like a routine of habits, the habit is repeated daily with the same habit and not a duplicate habit. I hope you respond to me

As a mom with three kids that are constantly running I do have a personal and work calendar. I color code my personal calendar by who the event is for. Orange is oldest son, green is youngest son, blue is hubby, flamingo is daughter, purple is me. I also have to add many calendars by URL based on the different apps their sports team use and their school calendar which saves SOO much time as it eliminates the need for adding all of those practices and games with varying times! I change the color of those calendars to match the kid they belong to as well! I put when my bills are due and then in parentheses if they are on autopay or not. I use gray for these. I still use my paper calendar as well since my kids like to glance at it. I use flair pens and use the exact same color coding for that!

Ahhh thank you! I love my new sequined top and I want to wear it as much as I can. So exciting to hear that you'll be in Toronto! It really depends on what you like as there is so much variety. A couple of sit-down restaurants I've been enjoying are Carisma (Italian) and Little Sister (Dutch-Indonesian). Mizzica is great if you're craving gelato and the line moves pretty quickly. There are also a lot of new food halls for a more casual and relaxed meal. Wellington Market and Waterworks Food Hall are both fun to check out but can get really busy. There's also Table Food Hall, which caters more to the business lunch crowd, so it's very quiet after hours (which I prefer 😆). If there's any specific type of food or vibe you're looking for, let me know and I can try to suggest something!

I've recently realized that full-time work isn't for me and that I'd likely thrive more with 2 part-time jobs- that's how I found your channel! It'd allow me to focus on my varied interests and would help me be less attached/have less expectations on me- I too am a "severe" introvert and being around the same people in the same environment for too long just isn't good for my mental health. I realized I'm also ok with possibly making less money. I love living a frugal/low-consumption life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! A lot of what you said really resonates with me and it's helpful to hear someone else come to the same realizations + be further in that shift than I am. 💗
